The curricular used at the different levels of Nursery, Primary, Junior Secondary Schools and Senior Secondary School (SSS) are guided by the National Policy on Education. The curricular reflects the needs of the various schools, Nursery to Senior Secondary School. The Primary School graduates receive the Basic Education Certificate upon passing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) organised by the State government while the JSS 3 graduates receive the Basic Education Certificate upon passing the Basic Education Certificate Examination organised by the National Examination Council (NECO) or the Edo State Government. The Senior Secondary School Students receive the Senior Secondary School Certificate upon passing the examination organised by NECO or WAEC.
The National Policy on Education provides three categories of subjects offered by Senior Secondary School Students: Core subjects (6), Vocational electives (14) and Non-vocational electives. They are as follows:

The choice of career and aptitude should guide the selection of the electives.
In the second year, i.e SSS II, the student has to drop one (1) of the chosen electives. Furthermore, at SSS III, the student may drop one of the three remaining electives, thereby having a total of eight (8) subjects (6 core and 2 electives) or nine (9) subjects (6 core and 3 electives).
